Sohar History

             When we talk about Sohar we talk about a city or an area, as mentioned in some historical books. That is Sohar which freed from oppression from Portuguese in 1643 AD. When we talk about Sohar, it comes to our minds the French author Felix Jones, the envoy to Muscat, 1859 M. When we talk about Sohar,  it comes in front of me, the first load landed on its shores in 1859 AD consists of two large guns and 200 barrels and 400 shell in addition to $ 30,000 to Mr. Turki gift from his brother Majid. When we talk about Sohar tossed to the memory of the dispute, which took place between Mr. Thuwaini and Mr. Turki on its mandate. That is Sohar as stated in the book of al-Maqdisi (Sohar is the entrance of China and the store of Iraq and the Middle and crossing Yemen), where he said it Alostchri in his book (tract and Kingdoms) "that can not be found on the Gulf or in a Muslim country city richer and the beauty of Sohar," It suffices to Sohar, to be honored that shone from the light of Islam when have received the delegation of the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, a great companion, "Umar ibn al-Aas" in his call for the people of Oman to enter Islam. Sohar is a combination of ancient history and a bright present.
